The reporter of Azad News travelled from France and conducted this interview with the president of the Kurdish Jews in Israel. During the same interview, the reporter engages in a short conversation with a young Israeli Kurd who comes originally from Zakho (Zaxo)./nThe president of the Kurdish Jews in Israel, Yuda Bin Yousuf, says there is a large number of Kurds living in Israel and they live throughout the country and they number 200,000-250,000 people and in Jerusalem alone there are about 60,000 Kurds. And one interesting thing about the Kurds, he adds, is that there are a lot of villages in Israel that are populated entirely by Kurds just like in Kurdistan. The Kurds have a long history in Israel and the family of Yuda Bin Yousuf emigrated from Kurdistan to Israel and settled in Jersalem in the 19800\'s. His family has helped the Kurds in Israel in a significant way by prserving the Kurdish history and promoting the Kurdish culture. Yuda\'s uncle was the founder of the present Association of Kurdish Jews./nYuda Bin Yousuf said they organise a huge and highly popular festival every year for the Kurds in that country and around 20,000 people come to celebrate from all over Israel. Nowadays the celebrations are held in October but he is quick to point out that the original timing of these celebrations is in March as it is customary in Kurdistan. His uncle, as one of the leaders of the Kurdish community in Israel, shifted the festival from March to October because in Israel March is crammed with events and celebrations by other communities, in particular the Moroccan Jews who number around one million. This festival of Kurdish music, singing and dance (shayee) is called Kaprashina and the Jews used to celebrate it when they were in Kurdistan./nBefore concluding the interview, the reporter of Azad News talks in Kurdish to a young Israeli Kurd aged 26 by the name of Nasim from Zakho (Zaxo) who now lives in Tel Aviv. /nThe president of the Kurdish Jews in Israel pointed out that a couple of years ago the City Council of Jerusalem spent 100,000 Dollars in aid of the annual celebrations of the Kurds. He further confirmed that A Kurdish TV channel will be on air soon for the Kurds in Israel.
